JNU violence: What did student union president Aishi Ghosh say on police charges

Five days after the violence at Jawaharlal Nehru University, the police released a picture of nine suspects on Friday. It has 2 ABVP and 7 left students. It also includes the name of JNU Students Union President Aishi Ghosh.

Marked students have not yet been detained. The police has sent a notice to everyone seeking clarification. According to the police, the entire dispute was about online registration. Whose left students were protesting. The nine suspects whose photographs have been released by the police include the names of Pankaj Mishra, Ishi Ghosh, Bhaskar Vijay, Sucheta Talukdar, Chunchun, Kumar, Dolan Samanta, Priya Ranjan, Yogendra Bhardwaj and Vikas Patel. Yogendra Bhardwaj is the administrator of Unity Against Left Whatsapp Group.

What did Aishi Ghosh say?

The charge against himself has been rejected by JNU student union Aishi Ghosh. They said that we did nothing wrong. We are confident that there will be a fair investigation. We Delhi Police are not afraid. We will follow the law and carry forward our movement peacefully and democratically. Aishi Ghosh alleged that my complaint to the Delhi Police has not been filed as an FIR. I have not beaten anyone.

Earlier on Friday, some students including Aishi Ghosh met Amit Khare, secretary of MHRD. After this, talking to the media, Aishi said that he has assured that he will take positive intervention in the matter and will soon issue a circular on the issue. We demanded that the JNU VC should be removed immediately from his post as he is unable to run the university. We need VCs who can help from afresh and bring normalcy to the campus.
